BJIEBM/COL/CA/271108/01 -- An opportunity has arisen for experienced Occupational Therapists who are seeking a new challenge to come and work in a leading health centre in Western Canada. Reporting to the manager, Social and Vocational programs in the Regional Mental Health Program; the Occupational Therapist will work as part of an inter-disciplinary team. This organisation is an integrated care model with emergency and acute care hospitals, specialized services, community health centres and clinics, and public health programs. The area itself has the lowest taxes in Canada and is one of the safest and greenest in Canada.
Responsibilities:
• Conducting vocational assessments and programming.
• Working individually with clients who have persistent and chronic mental illness on vocational goals.
• Planning, implementing and evaluating therapeutic and vocational programs.
• Networking with other service providers and mental health programs to facilitate referrals and service provision.
• Another significant role of this position is community development and capacity building in order to promote the development of an enhanced continuum of vocational services in the region.
• Screening and placement of clients referred to in-house and community partnership programs.
Requirements:
• Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy.
• Registered with the A.A.R.O.T.
• Current CPR (Heart and Stroke Foundation BLS Level C - Health Care Provider) is required.
• Ideally have 5 years experience in a mental health and/or rehabilitation setting
• A valid drivers license is required.
