Purchasing Supervisor - Midlands

Our client is one of the leading manufacturing company for a Purchasing Supervisor based in the Midlands.

RESPONSIBILITIES


Assist in the development and execution of procurement strategy, business plans, cost reduction standards and metrics.
Provide input to and lead the future direction of the purchasing function.
Institute a disciplined strategic sourcing process with a focus on continuous improvement in total cost, quality and service.
Negotiate supply agreements and contracts to safeguard supply of key materials, utilities and services for the site. Identify risks and mitigate accordingly.
Contribute to the definition and implementation of purchasing policies and procedures for the site.
Provide metrics and feedback on the performance of the purchasing team e.g. overdue orders, blocked invoices, cost reduction measures etc.
Participate & Lead projects related to the Purchasing function as assigned.
Review spend by supplier and determine potential cost reduction or improved service level opportunities.
Source, negotiate and contract for selected goods or services within assigned portfolio.
Establish and review Vendor management/measurement metrics and Assess vendor performance with a view to reducing the vendor database on an on-going basis.
Analyse spend patterns and work with requisitioners to consolidate spend, where possible.
Negotiate\ Renegotiate, extend, terminate all commercial contracts as appropriate.
Participate & Lead projects related to the Purchasing function as assigned.
Act as site point of contact for the purchasing function and work closely with other departments to ensure best purchasing practices are established and operated.

REQUIREMENTS
Degree in business, logistics, engineering or a related area
IPICS /IIPMM qualification desirable.
MRP Experience; preferably SAP.
Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in a high volume pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. People Management experience leading a Buying or Order Processing team
Ability to interact readily and easily with key contacts.
Experienced in strategic sourcing and have a proven track record of sustained cost improvement.
Good communication, influencing and relationship building skills,
High levels of personal and professional integrity incorporating a strong work ethic combined with a high degree of flexibility.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy and demonstrated
